Easy, good dishes.
Oct. 25th, 2009 12:12 pmMy quick, not-microwaved dish that I made all the time used to beanie weenie. I've since learned how to use the stove for experimenting with foods I like.
Now it's what I call "faux gumbo." One pack of Uncle Ben's Ready Rice (I use the original), one can of Campbell's Lentil Soup (plus the can of water the can calls for), and half a kielbossa, halved and sliced.
Heat until edible, eat what you want, refrigerate the rest. Lasts a long time.
(I spent the deployment discovering meals that make for good leftovers.)
I also make chicken-rice-and-chili. One pack of Uncle Ben's Ready Rice, one good-sized chicken breast that I shredded using forks, and a can of Hormel Chili (I like the kind with beans). Again, throw in the pot and heat until edible. Great for leftovers.
Any suggestions for cheap and easy recipes? (Or at least easy; we can afford healthy food.)
