2009 Alaska Governor's Picnic at Pioneer Park, 1 of 4
Hello everyone! I'm sorry I didn't get to this yesterday, but I basically spent the time I usually spend sleeping at the Alaska Governor's Picnic at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks, Alaska, which is right down the road from where I currently currently live at Fort Wainwright. I went to bed as soon as I got home, missing my best friend being online (she's in Australia and since she has a life and I don't, I sleep days so I can be online when she--and Chris--are). I considered staying up anyway, and started to nod off as I did so, so I went aw, fuck it and went to bed.
Anyhow, here's yesterday in pictures:
Sarah Palin collectible T-shirts. I saw a fair amount of people wearing these by the end of the day. Another lady was taking a picture of them too--and she's got the same kind of camera I do, only red. :)

A shot that advertises the shop itself. The Santa's Candles are very yummy-smelling.

Palin bumper stickers.

Some old school Alaska buttons.

Some more old school Alaska buttons.

A "Red Neck Wind Chime" at one of the many booths selling barbecue that were set up for this event. I went to the Souvlaki shop to get my lunch (because they take debit cards without a minimum purchase) and the lady who runs the place was the lady taking pictures of the Palin T-shirts. I told her about the wind chime thing and as I was heading back to the seat I'd staked out, I saw her taking a picture of it too. :)

Crowd shots.

...

...

...

There were a fair amount of anti-Palin people at the event, such as this guy with the "So Long, Seldom-Seen Sarah" sign, but most were supporters.

Another of that guy...

Preparations.

More preparations.

Anti-Palin signs in the distance. The zoom on my camera is so-so.

A close-up of flowers for Palin between the area I had staked out (as had a few other smart short people) and the doors the Important People came out to go to their seats. The chairs were for people who had special invitations.

More people starting to arrive--I got to this thing way early, but hey, I got to park legally. :D The lady in the blue visor later came and sat near me so she could have shade and a good view.

A shot of the flowers without the zoom.

The crowd getting bigger.

Family members of the Important People.

A funny redneck shirt: "In the Spring I Strut, In the Fall I Rut."
