Loooooooong-ass day.
This is all from yesterday, of course. :)
Wasn't too exhausted, but went to bed a little after midnight so I could actually sleep with Chris, since our sleep schedules are different. Oddly, I only slept a few hours, and got up feeling rested for once. Then I did a load of dishes and a load of laundry and was exhausted again, and I'd been up maybe three hours.
This is getting ridiculous.
We did go to the hospital (I can has bravery?) and saw Reid and Karen first thing. Karen was in a lot of pain, even in a wheelchair because she couldn't hardly move. Long story short, she got a dumb-ass doctor who either didn't know, or didn't care, or both, to ascertain exactly what she needed and then prescribe it. After a very long wait to talk to a nurse, we all then went to the Patient Advocate office and Chris and I waited in the waiting area while Karen and Reid talked to the Patient Advocate.
At some point, Chris and I stopped by the family practice area and asked about being seen for thyroid stuff, and I was given a number to call to get an appointment. I'll call that number later today, after I've slept.
As we were all leaving, Reid suggested that we hang out at his place, that if we paid for the food he'd cook it and we'd all have a nice dinner. Friends helping friends, yo. So Chris and I stopped by the house for a bit and then headed on to the Reids'. I tried to nap in my chair while Karen was talking to the PA, but I was still tired, but this was hanging out with my only local friends while Chris was home for R&R, so, to the Reids' it was.
And just as at the hospital when Reid asked me to stay with Karen while he and Chris talked, once we got there, Reid took Chris with him to formation and then to grocery shopping while I was left at the house with Karen, which is not the usual situation. I mean, the usual situation, since I made friends with the Reids the day Chris deployed, means that Chris wouldn't be there, but usually I was the one who tagged along with Reid if he was gonna go somewhere or even go outside and smoke. I was "one of the guys" pretty much, and I like it that way. And then stay with Karen. Not that I have anything against Karen, but we're more acquaintances than friends. We have very little in common. And I resented being relegated to being just another spouse.
Besides, Karen was on the phone the whole time they were gone (and it was a looong time), and I tried to nap on the chair in her living room (the dogs were all over the other couch), and that didn't work. Was killing my back. So I asked if I could lay down on her bed, just on top of the covers. She didn't mind, so I did. I lay on my stomach and tried to rest, and I might have dozed a bit, but the room was freezing and my back was killing me. So when Chris and Reid got back (and also with Cynthia's in-laws, Justin's parents, in tow, since Cynthia gave birth a week ago to little Sophia, and the in-laws were there to see their new grandbaby), I was groggy, still tired, and my back hurt. And every loud noise hurt my head. But it was still a good evening, with good food (really good food), and dessert (and I didn't finish either, go me!), and we watched Tropic Thunder after the in-laws left, and then, finally but after a good night, we went home.
And now Fizzy is online, making the good day trifecta: Chris, the Reids, and Fizzy. :D
Had a short chat, but is bedtime for me, as I'm fucking exhausted and my back is killing me, and my tolerance for back pain is pretty good. I'll call that number when I get up.
