I sure do agree that maternity leave would be a great use of taxpayer money. Like I said to Chris when he was playing Tropico 3, if you raise taxes you can provide more services.
Well, the species has to be perpetuated by some people, and I don't think the ones who are gainfully employed and choose to reproduce (or are using BC and it fails) should be penalized for it.
I'd love to see more people adopting and less people using fertility treatments and a lower birth rate overall (because, seriously, does the world really need seven billion people? I didn't think so), while I'm childfree now, I do plan on having one or two of my own offspring (either the first or second surrogate-ing for my almost-girlfriend if she becomes my girlfriend and agrees) and adopting if I want any more. (Oy, did that make any sense at all?)
